Bowled Over Welcomes .....

Sean Brightman

Sean wanted to be a comedian from the age of seven, but they didn't offer that kind of careers advice when he were a lad. Being a particularly lazy child, the standing up part also worried him just a little bit. However, he made his debut the following year, performing from the age of eight-and-two-thirds in the playground at his junior and senior schools (admittedly, it was mainly Lenny Henry's material, but he wasn't sure his contemporaries were quite ready for the Bernard Manning stuff). He then took a break from comedy, to embark on a successful sit-down graphic design career. Having spent much of his career making people in offices titter and now aged thirty and a bit years, Sean decided to get up off of his money-spinning chair and make people laugh with his own musings and material, in public houses and comedy clubs for mainly no money at all.

In just under his first full year of performing, he has managed to perform in excess of 125 gigs, including his first performances at the Edinburgh fringe 2009. Since November he has been co-running we love comedy, a wonderful boutique comedy night every fortnight in the West End. This has seen him performing and brushing up on his emceeing skills alongside the likes of Robin Ince, Eric's Tales of the Sea, Patrick Monahan, Peter Buckley Hill, Abandoman, Ava Vidal and many many others. More recently he has been lucky enough to have performed in front of Stephen K. Amos for Laughing Horse and Omir Djalili at the launch of a comedy competition for the Infidel movie. He also has embarked on an exciting new Saturday night comedy adventure, the 'Comedy Love-in' at the Round Table near Leicester Square, sharing emcee and resident comedian duties with Dave Rego and Francis Foster. Sean also records an occasional comedy podcast, called 'based on a bad idea' with Ivan Ambrose and Ben Q.

This next year, Sean is working hard on developing and adding to his material, strengthening his performances and emceeing skills in the process with as many gigs as he can squeeze in. Always learning, always growing and always trying to push the boundaries as far as possible with his material. He will also be taking 'we love comedy' to 2010's Edinburgh Festival, as part of PBH's Free Fringe.
